This delicious and elegant salad has a unique tangy-sweet flavor and is surprisingly easy to make, especially if you pre-prepare a large batch of almonds to keep around. For some added seasonal flair, other fruits can be added or substituted.
Preparation
- Prepare pralined almonds according to the recipe.
- Prepare the dressing by mixing all ingredients (the sesame seeds are optional).
- Core the apple and slice it into eight sections. Slice the sections into smallish bite-sized pieces.
Directions
- Toss and serve.
Toss the spinach to coat lightly with dressing and top with a handful of nuts and apple pieces.
Variations
Other Fruits
In addition to apples, you can add seedless grapes cut in half. Or, for a tangier salad, you can add chunks of ruby grapefruit.
Notes
- The pralined almonds take some work to prepare, but they keep well, so it’s easiest to make a large batch and use it over time.
- Though best with baby spinach, it is possible to make this with bunched spinach so long as it isn’t too tough and you remove the stems.
